Welcome to

Hello World!
Thanks for visiting my page. My nam is Pono Ono Poocheroo. I am a Labradorable (a super adoreable Labrador). I was born in March of 2022 in Julian, California. When I was a baby I moved southwest a little bit and now live in San Diego, California with my mom Carla.
I have a great tran-sspecies family that includes humans (large and  small), kitties and other dogs.
I love to play with my big sister Maya and my cousins Stig and Ruca (who is also my BFF). My favorite games "Steal Their Toy", "Chase" and "Dig Big Holes". My favorite games with Momma C and Mamma L are soccer, bubbles, and anything that involves chasing.

I am a service dog in training.  training which means that in addition to learning how to sit, stay, going potty outside only, leaving dirtly laundry in the hamper and leaving shoes where I find them (even if they are on the floor like my toys), I am also learning how to stay focused in distracting places, and how to be brave when we go to new places. I go to work with Momma C  for a couple of hours 6 days a week.  Don't tell momma, but sometimes I take a nap while I am waiting for her to finish working. Momma knows ways to make learning feel like playng games, so when I am learning, it doesn't always feel like work. Momma C and I start working with professional trainers in January 2023 (when a class that fits our schedule opens up). I will keep learning regular and special skills until I am about 18 months old.  Then I will have a big test called an evaluation to decide if I am ready to continue with training and learn the more advanced skills I will need as a service dog. You may be thinking that I will  have to get  a new home when I am finished with training, but Momma C has Multiple Sclerosis and, if I pass my evaluations,  I will be her service dog. If I don't pass my service dog evaluations,(unlikely...face it..I'm good at this stuff!), I will be Momma's super good pet dog. I am in my forever home!
The plan is to have  me trained for dual support because Momma C has a visual impairment as well as mobility and dexterity challenges as a result of Multiple Sclerosis.  What that means is that I will learn to guide my mom if she can't see, as well as get things from shelves/counters-and put them back, tug clothes off mom, put clothes in the laundry, provide balance support, alert to dangers (I have already told mom about a fire that was starting at home- I was only 7 months old then!), closing (and opening when possible) doors, and pull a manual wheelchair. Momma says I have better work/restore balance than her and I am helping her there too! Wanna see some of my favorite toys?
